Makena exited through the door, feeling the spring breeze and the warm air brush against her skin. She wore her fighting outfit and had her guns in her hand, because this was training period.
She walked onto the soft grass, approaching the bullseye targets set up by the trees. She saw the other students already doing their training, sparring in fenced off areas and thwacking away at defenseless dummies.
She wondered where Azurii was, since she already knew Chakra had went off on a rescue mission. She didn't want to come, mainly for the fact of how clumsy she can be when she tries to be sneaky. Chakra was going to be gone for a day or two; she takes the whole morning and afternoon traveling there, she takes the night rescuing the kid, and she takes another morning and afternoon getting back, arriving at night. Otherwise, she gets caught and Makena and Azurii have to come after her. Of course, she didn't expect Chakra to get caught by those idiotic guards. She could assasinate the prince is she wanted to, but that wasn't her main priority.
Hmm. Who was gonna be her sparring partner after practicing on the bullseyes?

She heard the tapping of her school shoes echo against the floors. She stood still for a moment, hearing the deep breathing haunt her sense of hearing. She froze, hearing the hissing noise. Was the basilisk still alive?
She turned and ran like a bat out of hell. She darted around aimlessly, searching for a way out. At every turn she heard the hissing in front of her, making her bolt into another direction. She heard one scream; Makena. A rise of panic struck her. Another scream; Chakra. Her breathing became rapid. A third one; Zero. She could smell the stench of blood sting her nostrils. A last one; Ambrose, the other student who came with them into the basement. She felt tears swell into her eyes, knowing that she was the next to let out the horrifying screetch. She didn't want to d--
SNAP!
Was the sound of the basilisk's jaws slapping together. Azurii jumped and sat forward, her vision blurring into focus as her breathing was still rapid. She looked around, the infirmary's bright white colors stinging her eyes. She rubbed them and shook her head, still smelling the blood from her nightmare. She slipped out of the covers, seeing herself in a clean uniform and her shoes sitting idle by the desk. The transparent curtains of the infirmary gently lifted up like waving arms to the soft breeze of the open windows. If she was alive, then the beast must have been slain.
She lifted herself from the bed, strapping on her school shoes and flattening the wrinkles of her skirt. She fixed her cape of brown hair back into the bun she normally wears at school. She heard snoring from the bed next to hers. She turned her head, seeing Zero free from his statued state. She looked at the clock; training period!
She gasped at the sight of the time. Just as the nurse came in to see her awake, Azurii was already trying to come out of the door.
"Hold on there, Miss Mallory. You're not going without your brother, are you? His medication should have worn off its knock-out effects by now--"
Azurii pivoted her heels and ran to Zero's side. She pulled off his covers, shaking his shoulder. "Wake up!"
Zero groaned. "Uuugggh... five more minutes, mom..."
Azurii pulled his shirt to sit him up. "Get up, you moron! It's training period!"
His eyes were half open. "Say whaa?"
Azurii pushed him off the bed and dragged him by the shirt out of the infirmary. "Training period, butthead! We gotta change into our other uniforms before the period ends!"

BAM BAM BAM went the guns of Makena Heilwig when she pulled her triggers.
She missed the middle a few times, but that was okay. After all, nobody's perfect. One time she managed to completely destroy the bullseye, but that was only once when she went trigger-happy with her guns.
Click click.
Gun refill needed. Makena refilled the tanks of her guns with the water pack on her gun. She began to shoot her ice bullets once more. As she shot her ice bullets, she was reminded of the basement of the basilisk. She was able to shoot its eyes, but at the same time she hit Chakra in the arm. Makena always either hit her target or was close to hitting it. But at that time, she actually missed. By a longshot.
She missed.
That was a big hit on her self-confidence. Now she had a harder time hitting the center of the bullseye and became more concious of her aiming, and that was what threw her off. She normally let herself go when she began shooting, and that's how she gets near-perfect shots. It was going to ruin her team's reputation of being the most elite.
